Although I was able to get the flip dot working, every time I connected the leads to the battery, the dot would flip in parallel to the direction in which it was sown, so it wouldn’t have a lot of mobility.
I attempted switching the orientation of how it was sown to the canvas three different times, while leaving the leads the same to make sure I wasn’t affecting the magnetic field. But the strange thing is that no matter in which direction I sowed the dot, it would always try to flip along the thread instead of perpendicular to it. which would have allowed it to do a full 180 rotation… Was not able to understand this :/
You can see the dot here struggling to rotate further but being impeded by the thread.
